Doris M. Campbell, 85, passed away late Monday afternoon May 28, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at home following a long illness.

She was born in Dansville on June 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Clyde and Catherine (McLane) Kenney. On Nov. 29, 1947, she was married to Victor L. Campbell Jr., who predeceased her on March 5, 2001, after 53 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Maynard and Russell Kenney.

Doris was a graduate of Dansville High School in the Class of 1944. She worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses. Affectionately known as “Doad” to her family and friends, she was an extremely loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, sewing and quilting. She was an avid reader and would research maps and books extensively before each trip so that every possible destination could be thoroughly enjoyed. Doad and Vic enjoyed playing cards, dancing, “Soup Club” activities, cross country skiing, and spending time at their summer home on Loon Lake. In later years, she enjoyed chatting with friends, listening to books on tape and being with family. She appreciated all the invitations to get out of the house and socialize.

She is survived by three daughters, Karen (David) Luce, Beth (Joseph) Allen and Sally (Alan) Herrick all of Dansville; six grandchildren, Laurie (Richard) Knarr, Peggi Sylor, Chad Allen, Jason (Amanda) Allen, Brett and Benjamin Herrick; five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Katy and Abby Knarr, Jacob and Emma Allen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
