Last year well over 300 people were lucky enough to discover secret gardens at private homes in Saugerties.  They did this on the Secret Gardens Tour.  The tour, now in its eighth year, is coming to Kingston to visit seven beautiful gardens.  Each garden exemplifies the creative and original style of the owner.  The tour attracts gardeners and outdoor lovers from all over, who are often surprised to find such imaginative use of outdoor space.  If you've never gone on the tour, you are missing out on a wonderful day.
The tour is an annual fundraising event.  Proceeds from this year’s tour will benefit the Boys & Girls Club with a portion going to the Friends of Historic Kingston, who helped find many of the gardens.  This year’s tour is a combination walking and driving tour.  There are five urban gardens in the Historic Stockade District of Kingston, as well, as two other very special hidden Kingston gardens.  Participants will spend the day viewing nature’s beauty, while getting ideas for their own gardens.  Since these are “Secret Gardens”, the names and locations are kept under wraps until the day of the tour.
The tour will be held on Saturday, July 7th from 11:00A.M. to 4:30 P.M.  Advance tickets will go on sale May 16th and are $20 through July 5th (unless they sell out).  Tickets can be purchased at Herzog’s Supply, Kingston Plaza, Schwenk Drive, Kingston and Smith Hardware at 227 Main Street, Saugerties. Tickets are also available through the mail by sending a check, payable to the Boys and Girls Club, along with your name, address and email or phone number to Secret Gardens Tour, P.O. Box 32, Malden, NY 12453.  Mail order requests must be received by June 30th.  For more information or to find out about becoming a sponsor, call (845) 246-0710.
