Dansville village police arrested a 44-year-old man for having sexual contact with a girl younger than 15 Thursday.

Robin France of Franklin Street was charged with two counts of second-degree rape, according to police.

France was arrested at the police department after an interview with an investigator, said Sgt. Robin Humphrey.

“A friend of the victim’s family said he had a sexual relationship with (the victim),” said Humphrey, of what started the probe. “He’s never had any police contact.”

According to police, the girl’s mother alerted them after she became aware of the nature of the relationship.

France was arraigned in Dansville village court by Judge David Werth and sent to the Livingston County jail on $2,500 bail.

A future court date for France could not be obtained by press time.
