It was with sadness and dismay that I learned that James Wissler is leaving his position as president and CEO of Noyes Memorial Hospital. Mr. Wissler’s departure is a serious setback to Noyes Memorial Hospital, to the local medical community, and to the people of Livingston County.

I have been a practicing physician in Livingston County for 40 years. During that time I have worked with many area hospital administrators. None of them combined the vision, the capabilities, and the integrity of Jim Wissler.

In Mr. Wissler’s 13 years at Noyes Memorial, he has made great strides toward making Noyes an outstanding facility that serves people in all parts of our county, and beyond. We all now take the Livingston Health Services in Geneseo for granted. That facility came about because of James Wissler and his deep understanding of the health needs of the people of Livingston County. I recently had surgery performed at the new Noyes Hospital surgical wing, and I can attest that it is a state-of-the-art facility. Again, Mr. Wissler’s vision for Noyes made that facility possible.

My suggestion to the Board of Noyes Memorial Hospital is to review the circumstances of Mr. Wissler’s resignation to see if this action can be reversed.
