  • This is a notice to all the residents of the Town of Dansville, Steuben County. On Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m., the town board will be having its next regularly scheduled meeting.
As with all meetings, this one is open to the public. Up for discussion is the recently formulated highway use regulations in anticipation of heavy industry (fracking) coming to the Township.
A copy of these regulations can be viewed on the Town’s website: www.townofdansvillenyseona. Discussion of the Town’s sudden decision to put a draft moratorium on hydrofracking on the back burner should also be a subject of debate.
The Board doesn’t seem to realize they represent all of us as residents and voters of this Township, and they are resposible for our public safety and the health and wellbeing of its residents. They do need to take control of our future especially as it relates to Home Rule, and let the DEC understand that we won’t be dictated to by them!
The board needs to understand that the majority rules, and if they don’t get it now, they will when the next election comes around.
The purity of our water wells, the value of our property as a resale-able asset, the value of our healthy livestock and wild life, and our arable farm land and organic crops are all threatened by ignorance and greed!
For several months many of us have tried to get the board to pass a one-year moratorium to alert the DEC that we value our present peaceful existence with excellent drinking water, clean air, and a serene, quiet rural lifestyle.
We don't want noise, pollution, interference, and loss of personal property and freedoms brought here by the greedy gas companies.
Our ancestors did not give us this earth, it is on loan to us by ourchildren. Protect it.
    Priscilla Howe, Dansville
