In a battle of the Indians it would be the ones wearing orange and black who prevailed as Keshequa came from a 4-0 to overtake and defeat Red Jacket in the Class C3 semifinal softball match-up on May 30. The red and white grabbed an early lead as they pulled out in front 4-0 in the third inning.
Keshequa managed to scratch away three of the runs in the home half of the third inning to tighten things up. Within striking distance, the Nunda-Dalton gang made their move in the bottom of the fifth. Haley Russell got things going with a single, then swiped second and later scored on Alex Flint’s sacrifice fly that would tie the game up at 4-4. The locals mounted a threat in the sixth and had a golden opportunity with two baserunners on, but could not get the big hit to push the runners across. Keshequa cashed in at the bottom of the seventh with the score still tied. Tessa Gordinier singled and  moved to second on an infield grounder by Flint. Gabe Mehelenbacher stepped to the plate and delivered the game winning hit with a Texas League double plating Gordinier for the 5-4 win.
On the pitching side of things, Alex Flint recorded the win going the distance giving up just three hits and struck out 12. Leading swingers for the Indians included Russell 2-4 with a double and two runs scored; Gordinier 2-4 with a double, an RBI and scored a pair of runs; Flint 2-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a sacrifice. Mehlenbacher was 1-4 with the clutch double and the game-winning RBI, while Kate Forrester finished 2-3.
