Despite talk that Dansville’s Summer Concert Series may lose funding from the village in 2012, organizers are still working at making the program viable.

Tim Brinduse addressed the village of Dansville Board of Trustees last week and urged officials to find a way to legally fund the program as has been done in the past.

Brinduse pointed to programs in Livonia and Geneseo that partner private, non-profit event organizers with public government funding sources.

“A lot of municipalities do this, so there has to be a legal way to do it,” he said.

Allan Howe noted that there have been questions in the past that prevented the village from making the traditional financial commitment to the concert series. He said there were three possible solutions in his view: the status quo, forming a non-profit corporation to oversee the concert series or partnering with another non-profit such as the Dansville Area Historical Society to oversee funds.

Trustees made no commitment at last week’s meeting, but several on the board hinted they would be willing to discuss the matter.
