  • - If you want to get out of the house this weekend, we suggest you plan a picnic. If you need a menu suggestion, you can’t go wrong with hot dogs and ice cream (among other delights) – July is National Hot Dog Month and National Ice Cream Month.
    - The holiday festivals are in full swing, and since the Fourth of July is on a Wednesday this year, there might be celebrations starting this weekend. Check the newspaper for listings.
    - The new movies opening this week are “Magic Mike,” an R movie from director Steven Soderbergh that stars Channing Tatum, Olivia Munn and Matthew McConaughey; “Madea's Witness Protection,” a PG-13 Madea movie from Tyler Perry; and “Ted,” an R comedy from Seth MacFarlane (of “Family  Guy” fame) starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.
    - It’s a big sports weekend: The Wimbledon championships are ongoing, the Tour de France starts rolling on Saturday, Major League Baseball is in action and the Euro 2012 final is Sunday afternoon.
    - On Friday, the Roswell UFO Days kick off. As you might expect, it’s an alien-themed festival. If you can’t get to Roswell, N.M., you can follow the events online, or you can hold your own Roswell Days by watching alien movies, holding an alien party, etc.
