SUNY Ulster’s Continuing and Professional Education Department is offering 3 separate sections of 8 sessions of the SAT Preparation course. A student’s score on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is one of the most important factors determining admission to the college of their choice. SUNY Ulster’s NYS certified math and English instructors will target areas where students need the most help. Students will receive a textbook, full-length SAT test, test-taking techniques, time-saving methods, test anxiety reducing strategies, comprehension and reasoning strategies. Scheduled SAT test dates for this area are 3/9 &5/4. Students should contact high school guidance counselors for additional information on registering for the official SAT test. Note: bring a calculator, paper, pencils and a snack to class. Fee includes book and practice test. The first section offered is Saturdays, Feb. 2 - 23 from 10 - 12:30 p.m. & Wednesdays, Feb. 6 - 27 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. 8 sessions for a cost of $229 at the Business Resource Center. The second section offered is Thursdays, Apr. 4 - 25 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. & Tuesdays, Apr. 9 - 30 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. 8 sessions for a cost of $229 at the Business Resource Center. The third section offered is Saturdays, Feb. 23 – Apr. 27 from 10 - 12:30 p.m. 8 sessions for a cost of $229 on the Stone Ridge Campus. No class Mar. 9 & 30.
            NEW this semester SUNY Ulster is offering the ACT Preparation course. The scheduled ACT test date at Kingston High School is 6/8/2013. This course is for students who will be taking the ACT exam during the upcoming school year. The course moves at a fairly rapid pace. NYS certified math, English and science teachers will cover the five areas of the ACT test - English, math, reading, science and writing in addition to test-taking strategies and practice tests.
