James D.  VanDerwerken, 71, of West Deptford Township, N.J., passed away peacefully on Feb 21, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family.

James D.  VanDerwerken, 71, of West Deptford Township, N.J., passed away peacefully on Feb 21, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family.


He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Tannis VanDerwerken (nee Burns), two daughters; Lori Kapp of Woodbury Heights, N.J.; and Kathleen Collier of Pennsville, N.J.; five devoted sisters, Katherine Morsch, Donna Fox, Anne Black, Dorthea Derrenbacher, Rhoda Wright, and four adoring grandchildren, Alexis Kapp, Justin Kapp, Katherine Collier and Aubrey Kapp, along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty VanDerwerken, and three brothers Author, Clarence and Lewis Vanderwerken.


James was born in Dansville and he lived in West Deptford Township, N.J. for 34 years. He proudly served his country with the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. He retired from VWR International LLC after 39 years. James had also been a member of the West Deptford Lions Club for more than 30 years; he was also a member of the Garrison Club and the American Legion.


Friends may call on Thursday after 9:30 a.m. in the Budd Funeral Home, 522 Salem Ave. (King’s Highway), Woodbury, N.J. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Interment at Woodbury Memorial Park.
