The Fall Turkey Dinner at the Springwater United Methodist Church, State Route 15 is 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. Cost is $7.50 for adults, $5 for children 5-12 and free for those younger than 5.


The Springwater Parks and Trails Committee is forming a hiking group to explore hiking trails in and around Springwater. Sunday, Oct. 24, is the date for the first hike and organizational meeting. An Autumn Party with Trunk-or-Treat is coming to Webster’s Crossing United Methodist Church 3:30-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 and to Allen’s Hill UMC 2-3:30 p.m. Oct. 31 with a hay ride at 1 p.m. Costume disguises, (no devil costumes, please) are encouraged. Decorate the trunk of your car, and bring some treats for the children to share. Face painting, pumpkin bowling, games and treats. Both of these events are open to the community.

Halloween is on a Sunday this year and the Springwater Fire Department is moving its traditional Halloween party for the children to the Springwater Town Hall – a more centralized location without walking to the fire house.


The menu for the Veterans Day Dinner has been finalized and this year there is no cost for the meal. A donation will be taken. The menu includes steak, potatoes, salad and vegetable and dessert. The Legion is a non-smoking place and handicapped accessible. The dinner is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6, and the Post will open for pre-dinner conversation and early visitors at 4:30 p.m.


Wayland American Legion Post 402 is sending our troops overseas Girl Scout cookies. Two junior members of the Ladies Auxiliary are selling Girl Scout cookies for their respective troops. These young women are also asking the public to buy a box to be donated to the troops. The Wayland Post will then box the cookies and send en masse to the troops before Thanksgiving. Order deadline is Oct. 28, and all the favorites are $3.50 per box. More information can be had by calling 728-3466.
