If you “Got Game,” the organizers of the eight annual Avoca Summer Classic 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament are asking you to prove it.

The tournament – in memory of Frankie Rundell – will be held Aug. 7 with team sign-up at 9 a.m. and games beginning at 10 a.m., right on Main Street in downtown Avoca.

The cost is $20 per team and preregistration is required – no day of walk-on teams are allowed.

Teams should consist of 4-5 members for the following age brackets: Boys/Girls ages 10-12, 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18, and Men/Women ages 19-35 and 36 & Up.

Frankie Rundell was a native Avocan (a 1988 Avoca?Graduate) who was an avid basketball player – he played on the 1987-88 team that made it to the NYS semi-finals. He died in 2001 in an auto accident and the Summer Classic is what his friends created to keep Frankie’s memory alive.

Proceeds from the tourney wee shared by AAU basketball teams, a YMCA team, summer lacrosse, All-Star Cheerleaders, went for new hoops at a local park and help out two students with scholarships.
