  • The State Legislature passed a resolution tonight renaming part of Interstate 390 in honor of Cohocton native Sgt. Devin Snyder.
Sponsored by state Senator Tom O'Mara (R-C, Big Flats) and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R-C-I, Corning), the legislation would name the section between the Cohocton and Wayland exits after the 2008 Wayland-Cohocton graduate who was killed in Afghanistan in 2011.
"Devin made the ultimate sacrifice while serving her country admirably and courageiously, and we're proud to help remember Devin and pay tribute to her life," said O'Mara and Palmesano in a joint statement.
Once Gov. Andrew Cuomo signs the bill, Interstate 390 from the Cohocton to Wayland exits will be the "Sergeant Devin Snyder Memorial Highway."
More information will be available in the Friday Evening Tribune.
