The X-County Trailriders Snowmobile Club will be hosting a Youth Snowmobile Operator Safety Course on Saturday, Nov. 6.


The free course will be held in the Dansville Ambulance base, 18 Ossian St. Class will start at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Lunch will be provided.

The free course will be held in the Dansville Ambulance base, 18 Ossian St. Class will start at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Lunch will be provided.


This course is required for youths ages 10 to 17 years of age (must be 10 years old on the day of the class).


Class will be limited to 25 people, preregistration is required. Please call Jerry Jackson at 585-335-7403 for registration or other information. Adults are welcome to take the course, but youths will receive preference.


According to the New York State Parks and Recreation website, youths ages 14 through 17 may operate a snowmobile, on lands upon which snowmobiling is allowed, with adult or other supervision if they have completed a snowmobile safety course recognized by the State of New York.


If youth ages 14 through 17 have not completed the course, they may operate a snowmobile if accompanied by a person (within 500 feet) who is at least 18 years of age.


Youth ages 10 through 13 may operate a snowmobile on lands upon which snowmobiling is allowed, if they have completed a snowmobile safety training course recognized by the State of New York and are accompanied by (within 500 feet) a person who is at least 18 years of age.
