Bradley Bowden passed away unexpectedly at Strong Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012. Despite his life-long struggle with heart and health issues, Brad lived life to the fullest until the end. He was born in Corning on June 5, 1981, the son of Leslie and Pamela Bowden. Brad graduated from Dansville Central School (class of 2000) and was briefly employed at the Dansville after school children‘s program. Following that, he worked for a time at the ARC of Livingston–Wyoming.

Brad was a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell, where he had served as a youth advisor and acolyte. As a member of Troop 40, Boy Scouts of America (Five Rivers Council), he attained the rank of Eagle and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. In the past, Brad enjoyed bowling on various teams and playing with his trivia team on Thursday nights. He loved movies, dining out, trips to Disney and the casino, fishing, driving his car, and was passionate about animals. He trained his first pug as a therapy dog and his current pug became his Service Dog.

Brad is survived by his parents, Les and Pam Bowden, an aunt and uncle, Anna Grace (Bowden) and Sal Paonessa; an uncle, Douglas Bowden; and many loving cousins, A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. April 21 at Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell. At 1 p.m. June 9, an informal celebration of Brad’s life will be at the Dansville Fish and Game Club on Gibson Street. We ask that those touched by Brad’s life come to share their memories and fellowship with each other. Due to Brad’s love of animals and service to others, memorial gifts may be given to the Hornell Humane Society; Therapy Dogs International, 88 Bartley Rd., Flanders, NJ 07836; and the Five River Council of the Boy Scouts of America, 244 West Waters St., Elmira, NY 14901.
