Community participation needed


Community members are invited to a focus group discussion on the strengths and limitations of the Dansville Central School experience on Tuesday, Nov. 2. The two sessions will be facilitated by Albany area BOCES representatives to assist in a frank and open discussion. Up to 10 participants may participate in each session. This opportunity is for community members who do not currently have children attending Dansville Central School.  Parents, staff and students are being surveyed through school.


Basket social


Dansville Band Boosters will host a basket social on Sunday, Nov. 7, at the North Dansville Town Hall. Tickets can be purchased from noon until 3 p.m. Drawings will begin at 3 p.m. and winners do not need to be present to accept prizes. Upcoming events


•Mustang teams will compete in Section V play this week. Boys varsity soccer will play at Hornell at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28. Girls varsity soccer will compete in Livonia at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29. Varsity cheerleading will compete at RIT beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Girls swimming prelims are scheduled in Bath at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, and the finals are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Nov 6. Boys and girls cross country championships are scheduled at Genesee Community College in Batavia at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 5. Varsity football will complete in the Connors & Ferris Bowl in Dansville against Pal Mac at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29.


•A number of seasonal events will be taking part in the buildings. Please check your child’s schedules this week, particularly in the elementary and primary school for Halloween-related activities.


•Parent-Teacher Organizations continue to meet: Primary and Elementary PTO will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1. This is a great way to get involved so get on board and enjoy the fun. Being connected to the school is a great way to encourage your child’s  school experience in a positive direction.


•School schedule: There are no classes for students on Thursday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day and on Friday, Nov. 12, as it is a professional development day for staff.
