  • Bernard M. Coffey, 84, passed away at home Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 20, 2012.
    Bernard was born in Dansville Feb. 27, 1928, a son of the late James and Margaret (Campbell) Coffey. He was predeceased by his first wife, Thelma (Shepard) Coffey; his two grandchildren, Shania Sick and Joshua Griffith; and his siblings, Laurene Saeger, Pauline Farrell, Geraldine Capizzi, Gordon, Les, Vincent and James Coffey. Bernard is survived by his wife, of over 40 years, Suzanne (Schlegel) Coffey.
    Bernard was a retired crane operator for Local 1036 Operator and Engineers in Rochester. After retirement Bernard enjoyed traveling, scraping with his son John, reading endlessly, and watching the Military Channel. Bernard served as a Merchant Marine during World War II.
    Surviving, in addition to his dear wife Suzanne are his children, John (Carolyn) Coffey of Dansville, Pamela (Lynn) Alexandria of Eugene, Ore., Chris (Larry) Lippincott of Springwater, Jennifer Coffey of Wayland, Colleen (Jeff) Drake and Darlene (Sam) Bozzette of Sparta, Tammy (Darrell) Lemen of Groveland and Pam (Mike) VanScooter of Webster Crossing; two sisters, Margaret (John) Ozmankowski of Webster and Patricia (Norm) Bouffard of Rochester; 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service was Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Oakland Wesleyan Church, 1519 State Route 436, Nunda. Online remembrances may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
