A 13-year-old boy was hit by a jeep in the early evening hours of Nov. 13 in Dansville.
At around 5:30 p.m., Tyler Foster was crossing Liberty Street on his bicycle when he was struck by a Jeep that was turning off of Main Street.
Officer Larry Burley along with EMS officials responded to the scene. The boy was checked out by the roadside by a number of officials for several minutes, before being moved to an ambulance and then transferred to Noyes Memorial Hospital.
“The kid was coming across Liberty Street on the sidewalk going north to south and they just hit each other,” Burley said.
When asked what happened, the driver of the Jeep, Richard Chasey said, “I stopped to make the left turn off Main, when it was clear I pulled ahead and all the sudden he was right there.”
He added. “There wasn’t anything I could do.”
The incident was ruled an accident and there was no fault placed on Chasey nor Foster. No serious injuries were sustained by Foster, Officer Burley said, “It seems like he’s going to be OK.”
