State Assemblywoman, Jane Corwin, is the GOP’s candidate for the vacant 26th Congressional seat.

County Chairs of the 26th District Republican party met in Geneseo Monday to make their decision.

Corwin, a full-time mother of three from Clarence, has been in the New York Assembly since 2008.

In a statement released Monday night, Corwin said:

“As someone who has run a business and created hundreds of private sector jobs in Western New York, I know that government only gets in the way of job growth. Fighting massive government expansion and runaway spending were two of the biggest reasons I entered public service a few years ago. Demanding fiscal responsibility in Washington and creating jobs in our communities in Western New York will be my priorities should I be this region’s Representative in Congress.”

The vacant seat was previously held by Chris Lee, but became vacant after he resigned, due to a shirtless picture that surfaced online earlier this month.

There is still no word on who the Democrats will run.
