Clara Barton Chapter no. 1 of the American Red Cross is $39,138 to the good after an auction Saturday night at the Dansville Moose Club.
The event was the culmination of a month-long street display of metal sculptures throughout Dansville. Students at the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership in Mt. Morris crafted the 48 pieces for display at businesses throughout Dansville during May.
Several of the pieces were either purchased by Dansville businesses or donated back to Dansville groups, so many will remain on display at locations within the village.
The high bidder for the night was Greg O’Connell, who was edged up to $3,200 for a piece titled “Daisy” and crafted by A.J. Smith of Dansville; Donald LaDue, Bradley Scism and Justin Forkner, all of Avon; and Brett Diener of Livonia.
