Tied.

The Republican Primary race for Livingston County district attorney is as close as it possibly can be: Eric Schiener and Steve Sessler each have 1,879 votes after officials counted 187 absentee ballots on Wednesday

Unofficial results from last Thursday's primary showed Sessler carried a 19-vote lead over Schiener, 1,792 to 1,773, into the absentee count.

A Livingston County elections official said there is a dispute between the sides over four absentee ballots. The officials said the issue is expected to be taken up by a State Supreme Court judge.

Democratic District Attorney Gregory J. McCaffrey has his party's nomination for the position. McCaffrey was appointed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo last spring.
