BOYS BASKETBALL

Class AA2 semifinal

No. 1 Irondequoit 46,
No. 4 Marshall/Freddie Thomas 34

The Irondequoit boys basketball team earned a trip to the Class AA2 sectional final with a victory over No. 4 Marshall/Freddie Thomas on Wednesday night.
Wyatt Smith scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds to power the Eagles. Tyler Stenglein added 12 points while Kyle Napierala provided two points and 12 rebounds.
Sergio Alicea led Marshall/Freddie Thomas (11-8) with 15 points, including 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. Brandon Charles added 12 points while Shai’Quan Nicholson added five points and eight rebounds.
Irondequoit (17-2) will face No. 2 Greece Athena in the Class AA2 championship game on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena.

No. 2 Greece Athena 72,
No. 3 East 63

The Greece Athena boys basketball team defeated No. 3 East High on Wednesday, giving the Trojans their fifth trip to the sectional final in the last nine years.
Zac DiSalvo posted 18 points, including three three-pointers, to lead the Trojans. Deion Hamilton and Jay Sarkis both added 17 points, with Hamilton providing seven rebounds and Sarkis five assists and four steals, while Braxton Wilson, Anthony Lamb and Peter Florin each chipped in six points.
Dontae Carruthers poured in a game-high 26 points, dished out four assists and made three steals to lead East (11-9). Trabarius Smith added 14 points and 16 rebounds while Trevon Oliver contributed 11 points.
Greece Athena (15-5) will face No. 1 Irondequoit in the Class AA2 final on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena.

Class A semifinal

No. 1 Charlotte 54,
No. 4 Wayne 39

The Charlotte boys basketball team topped No. 4 Wayne on Wednesday, giving the Lakesiders a chance at three consecutive sectional titles.
Kievonn Banks filled up the stat sheet for Charlotte as he finished with 23 points, 12 rebounds and five steals. Malik Herring added six points, eight assists and five steals while Davante Hagins tacked on nine points.
Tre LaMora finished with 14 points to lead Wayne (). Mike Hollenbeck and Paul Dinehart each added 10 points.
Charlotte (17-3), which won the class B title the past two seasons, will face No. 3 Aquinas in the Class A finals on Saturday at 9 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena. The Lakesiders trailed 21-19 at halftime but opened the second half on a 15-0 run to gain control of the game.

No. 3 Aquinas 62,
No. 2 Geneva 54

The Aquinas boys basketball team outlasted No. 2 Geneva on Wednesday to earn a trip to the Class A title game on Saturday night.
Kyron Allen scored 18 points to lead the Lil’ Irish, including seven of the team’s 14 points in the fourth quarter. George Graham added 13 points while Emanuel Bouie Jr., Melvin Grayson and D.J. Roberts each had six points.
Junior Sims tallied 12 points to lead Geneva. Daniel Hickey added 11 points followed by Shane Sweeney with 10.
Aquinas (17-4) will play No. 1 Charlotte in the Class A finals on Saturday at 9 p.m. at the Blue Cross Arena.
Geneva finishes the season at 19-2 with both losses against the Lil’ Irish.
