No one could top the Red Jacket cheerleading team in any of the competitions the girls entered during the 2012-13 winter season. The Indians completed their undefeated season by taking home the Section 5 Class C2 championship Saturday at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Red Jacket senior Bailey Kablack said it was an unreal feeling when her team was announced as the winner.

“I think it was us going in with the goal of hitting the perfect routine,” Kablack said. “Our competition this year was crazy, the people we went up against were amazing. We didn’t expect anything. We just wanted to show everybody we could hit a perfect routine and we’re a team worth watching.”

“We knew we had to work on tightness,” teammate Allyson Pollock added. “We knew we had to hit our stunts, we just nailed that into our heads.”

This year’s Red Jacket squad included 20 cheerleaders. They won five separate competitions this season. The Indians also won the winter title last year.

Coach Stephanie Beardsley said it was a dream season.

“I’m so incredibly proud,” the coach said. “An undefeated season is a hard thing for anybody to do and for it to happen in cheerleading is incredible. It’s been a true blessing to have the phenomenal support system we have from both the family members on the team and the community. Their encouragement is what drives us to do the best that we can do.”

Penfield won the Class AA1 title, Spencerport won AA2, Wayne won A, Livonia won B1, Hornell won B2, Avon won C1, York won C3 and Avoca won D.
