GIRLS SWIMMING AND DIVING

CLASS B DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP

Canandaigua’s Serica Hallstead took first place at the Section 5 Class B Diving Championships, held Thursday at Gates Chili High School.
Hallstead was in command the entire event, earning top score in the preliminaries (187.65), semifinals (314.60) and finals (446.30). Her performance qualified her for the state meet in Ithaca.
Shelby Delladio (Mercy) took second with a finals score of 399.20, followed by Victor’s Erin Norton in third with 384.30. Irondequoit divers took the next two spots as Elena Rohr and Ashley McDonald finished in fourth and fifth place with 373.80 and 372.80 points, respectively.
Megan Stevens (Brockport), Alexandra House (Newark), Shea Heitz (Victor), Haily Atkins (Newark) and Kate Nau (Churchville-Chili) rounded out the top-10.

CLASS CCC SEMIFINALS

No. 5 Mynderse 3,
No. 1 Gananda 2

The Mynderse girls soccer team defeated top-seeded Gananda on Thursday to advance to the Class CCC championship game.
Mynderse took a 1-0 lead 13 minutes into the game on a goal by Brittany Anderson. The Blue Devils extended their lead to 2-0 just four minutes later when Gillian Lamb scored off an assist from Taylor McGhan.
Gananda cut the deficit in half just before halftime when Caroline White beat the keeper off a pass from Victoria Johnson, but a goal by Morgan Bruno five minutes into the second half pushed the Blue Devils’ lead back to two goal.
A goal by Jordyn Ruston in the 62nd minute again brought Gananda within one, but the Blue Panthers were unable to get the equalizer.
Jessica Parish made 14 saves for Mynderse to earn the win in goal. Darci MacFall recorded five saves for Gananda (17-1), which entered the game ranked No. 1 in the state in Class C.
Mynderse (10-6-2) will face No. 2 Attica in the title game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Cal-Mum.

CLASS B SEMIFINALS

No. 1 Greece Odyssey 2,
No. 4 Bath-Haverling 0

The Greece Odyssey girls soccer team earned a trip to the Class B finals with a win over No. 4 Bath-Haverling on Thursday.
Kelsey Lafferty broke the scoreless tie in the 56th minute, scoring off a pass from Liz Dohr to give Greece Odyssey a 1-0 lead. Liana Buciarelli tacked on the insurance goal less than two minutes, finding the back of the net off an assist from Emily Tucker.
Greece Odyssey (14-3-1), ranked No. 8 in the state in Class B, will face the winner of No. 2 Hornell/No. 3 Livonia on Monday at a time and place to be determined.
Bath-Haverling ends the season at 13-4-2.

The Wheatland-Chili girls soccer team advanced to the Class C finals with a win over top-seeded Naples on Thursday.
Emily Boehm scored both goals for the Wildcats, the first off a pass from Sarah Smith in the 52nd minute and the second in the 78th minute unassisted.  
Wheatland-Chili (12-4-2) will face No. 2 Keshequa in the championship game on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Naples finishes the season 16-2.

CLASS D SEMIFINALS

No. 1 Belfast 1,
No. 4 Northstar Christian 0
overtime

The season came to an end for the Northstar Christian girls soccer team on Thursday as the Knights fell to top-seeded Belfast, 1-0 in overtime.
Mckenzie Miller netted the lone goal of the match two minutes into the second overtime period on a penalty kick to lift the Bulldogs to the win. Kaylee Middaugh made three saves to earn the shutout between the pipes.
Amy Sharn made 13 saves for Northstar Christian (9-7-2).
Belfast (18-0) will face No. 2 Andover in the championship game on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Wellsville.
