BOYS SOCCER

CLASS B FIRST ROUND

No. 6 Newark 2,
No. 11 North Rose-Wolcott 0

The Reds defeated No. 11 North Rose-Wolcott on Wednesday to earn a spot in the Class B quarterfinals.
Jacob Cowles broke the scoreless tie with less than four minutes in the first half, finding the back of the net off a throw-in from Paul Dingman. Newark would maintain a one-goal advantage until late in the game when Tyler Collins netted the insurance goal off another Dingman throw-in.
Dan Staples made eight saves to earn the win in goal. Skyler Tuper had eight saves for North Rose-Wolcott (7-9-1).
Newark (9-6) will play No. 14 Dansville on Saturday at a time to be determined.

No. 5 Pal-Mac 1,
No. 12 Penn Yan 0

The Pal-Mac boys soccer team defeated No. 12 Penn Yan on Wednesday to earn a spot in the Class B quarterfinals.
Kleo Boro broke the scoreless tie in the 75th minute when he scored off a pass into the box from Noah West. Eric Holden made eight saves to earn the win in goal.
Pal-Mac (9-6-2) will face No. 4 Wayland-Cohocton on Saturday at a time to be determined.
Penn Yan finished the season at 6-10-1.

No. 13 Waterloo 0

Wayland-Cohocton earned a win over Waterloo on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Class B boys soccer tournament.
Cass McCallister gave Wayland-Cohocton a 1-0 lead 17 minutes into the game. The Eagles maintained the lead until just before halftime when Tyler Brown scored to make it 2-0. Brown would add his second goal of the match in the 57th minute, scoring off an assist from Dylan Pebbles, to cap the scoring.
Wayland-Cohocton (10-6-1) will play No. 5 Pal-Mac on Saturday at a time to be determined.
Waterloo ends the season at 5-11-1.

No. 8 Bath-Haverling 4,
No. 9 Marcus Whitman 2

The Marcus Whitman boys soccer team fell to Bath-Haverling in the opening round of the Class B tournament on Friday, ending the Wildcats season at 7-8-2.
Bath-Haverling saw four different goal-scoreres on the day as Garrett Hall, Wes Jackson, James Fagan and Connor Oksinski each tallied one strike. Fagan added a pair of assists while Matt Baroody chipped in one.
Bath-Haverling (8-7-2) will face No. 1 Livonia on Saturday at 6 p.m.

No. 2 Greece Odyssey 2,
No. 15 Wellsville 1

The Greece Odyssey boys soccer team defeated Wellsville on Wednesday to earn a trip to the Class B quarterfinals.
Victorin Kothor scored in the 20th minute off a pass from Ross Ozello to give the Leopards a 1-0 lead. Adam Wilkins provided the eventual game-winner in the 49th minute, scoring off an assist from Ian Durbin.
Greece Odyssey will face No. 7 LeRoy on Saturday at a time to be determined.
Wellsville ends the season at 4-13.

The Bloomfield boys soccer team defeated No. 13 East Rochester on Wednesday, giving the Bombers a spot in the Class C1 quarterfinals.
Andrew Rogers got the scoring started for Bloomfield five minutes into the game, beating the keeper off a pass from Brian Swackhammer. The Bombers extended their lead to 2-0 less than three minutes later with the successful conversion of a penalty kick by Ty Clauss. Swackhammer added a goal eight minutes later off an assist from Chase Jackson to make it 3-0 and close the first half scoring. Bloomfield completed the scoring less than four minutes into the second half when Alex Flattery scored off a pass from Clauss.
Evan Multala made three saves to earn the shutout in goal. Bloomfield (12-4-1) will play No. 5 Holley on Saturday.
East Rochester ends the season at 2-12-2.

No. 9 Addison 1,
No. 8 Gananda 0
overtime

The season came to and end for the Gananda boys soccer team on Wednesday as the Blue Panthers fell to No. 9 Addison the first round of the Class C1 tournament.
The lone goal of the match came in the first overtime period when Andrew Metarko scored off a pass from Kyle English.
Addison (11-5-1) will face No. 1 Mynderse on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Gananda finishes the season at 8-5-4.

CLASS C2 FIRST ROUND

No. 5 Marion 4,
No. 12 Bolivar-Richburg 0

The Marion boys soccer team advanced to the Class C2 quarterfinals with a win over No. 12 Bolivar-Richburg on Wednesday.
Tallon Roon netted a hat trick to lead the Black Knight’s offense, while Noah Stevens chipped in one goal.
Marion (11-4-2) will face No. 4 Wheatland-Chili on Saturday at a time to be determined.
Bolivar-Richburg finishes 6-10-1.

No. 10 Perry 1,
No. 7 Honeoye 0

The Honeoye boys soccer team fell to Perry in the opening round of the Class C2 tournament on Wednesday, giving the Bulldogs a final season record of 9-8.
Kris Kwiecien scored on a breakaway off a pass from Geoff Rice with less than two minutes left in regulation to lift the Yellowjackets to the win.
Perry (6-7-4) will play No. 2 Keshequa on Saturday at 6 p.m.

GIRLS SOCCER

CLASS AA FIRST ROUND

No. 5 Churchville-Chili 4,
No. 12 Gates Chili 0

Churchville-Chili defeated Gates Chili on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Class AA girls soccer tournament.
Carly Zimmerman scored one minute into the game off an assist from Taylor Fletcher to give the Saints and early advantage. Churchville-Chili would extend its lead to 2-0 in the 20th minute when Olivia Kuter found the back of the net off a pass from Bella Mitrevski. The Saints tacked on two more goals before halftime to make it 4-0, the first by Ally Breon and the second by Mitrevski. Karley Renehan notched four saves to earn the victory between the pipes.
Churchville-Chili (10-7) will face No. 4 Penfield on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Gates Chili ends the season at 3-11-1.

No. 6 Webster Schroeder 1,
No. 11 Irondequoit 0

The Webster Schroeder girls soccer team defeated Irondequoit on Wednesday, setting up a meeting with cross-town rival Webster Thomas in the Class AA quarterfinals.
Alexa Antetomaso scored the lone goal of the match in the 43rd minute, beating the keeper off a crossing pass from Christina Burke. Megan Herbst recorded eight saves to earn the shutout between the pipes. Schroeder (8-6-3) will face Thomas on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Irondequoit finishes the season at 5-10-2.

No. 8 Brockport 2,
No. 9 Greece Athena 0

The Brockport girls soccer team earned a win over Greece Athena on Wednesday to set up a showdown with top-seeded Fairport on Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead 14 minutes into the game when Katie Johson scored off a pass from Bailey Kline. The teams played even until early in the second half when Melanie Kehoe beat the keeper off an assist from Shannon Allen to make it 2-0.
Allison Danielak notched six saves to pick up the win in goal. Brockport (9-8) will face No. 1 Fairport on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Greece Athena finishes the season at 6-8-3.

CLASS AA FIRST ROUND

No. 7 Mercy 3,
No. 10 Eastridge 0

The Mercy soccer team defeated Eastridge on Wednesday to advance to the Class A quarterfinals on Saturday night.
Julia Delgatti gave the Monarchs a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute, scoring off a pass from Amanda Mietus. Mercy extended its lead13 minutes later when Anna Doerr found Carey DiPasquale to make it 2-0. The teams would play even until late in the second half when Delgatti registered her second goal of the contest off an assist from Rachel Caterisano to cap the scoring.
Alana Olivieri made five saves to earn the win in goal. Mercy (7-8-2) will travel to Brighton to face the second-seeded Barons on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Eastridge ends the season at 5-10-2.

CLASS DD FIRST ROUND

No. 8 Avoca 1,
No. 9 Romulus 0

The season came to an end for the Romulus girls soccer team on Wednesday as the Warriors fell to No. 8 Avoca in the opening round of the Class DD tournament.
Avoca’s Mackenzie Heard scored nine minutes into the game off an assist from Lindsey Longwell for the lone tally of the match. Rae Prestridge made five saves to earn the victory in goal.
Jenny Tompkins made 14 saves for Romulus (7-11).
Avoca will face No. 1 Arkport on Saturday at 6 p.m.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

CLASS DDD FIRST ROUND

No. 8 Bloomfield 22-25-25-25,
No. 9 Cal-Mum 25-23-22-15

The Bloomfield girls volleyball team defeated No. 9 Cal-Mum on Wednesday to advance to the Class DDD quarterfinals.
Peyton Robinson tallied 23 assists, five kills, five digs and four aces to lead the Bombers. Audra Beechler added 15 kills and six digs while Katie Bowe chipped in nine kills and three blocks.
Katie Balonek paced Cal-Mum with 15 assists and 10 kills.
Bloomfield will face No. 1 Lyons on Friday at 6 p.m.
