Katie Chamberlain scored two goals to lead 10th-seeded Spencerport to a 3-0 win over seventh seeded Rush-Henrietta in a pre-quarterfinal game in the Section 5 Class AA tournament Thursday at Spencerport.

The Rangers (5-9-3 overall) advanced to the AA quarterfinals where they will play at second seeded Hilton at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The Cadets won the previous two meetings with Spencerport, each time by one goal.

The Rangers controlled the game in their victory over the Royal Comets, limiting R-H’s chances to keep them off the scoreboard.

Chamberlain gave the lower seed the early advantage, as she beat a Royal Comet defender 1-on-1 and fired a low driving shot by R-H goalie Nicki Turley to give Spencerport a 1-0 lead 12:21 into the first half. Sabrina DeBellis was credited with an assist on the goal.

The Rangers didn’t allow R-H a chance to come back, as Caitlin Broderick scored 8:43 into the second half. Isabelle DeStefano earned the assist on the second goal.

Spencerport put the game away less than a minute later as Chamberlain scored on a breakaway. Elena Sullivan earned the assist on Chamberlain’s second goal.

Allison Dobles recorded 10 saves to earn the shut out in goal for the Rangers.

The Royal Comets finished the season 6-6-5 overall.
