The Hilton girls bowling team represented Section 5 well by finishing second at the state championships Saturday at AMF Strike-N-Spare Lanes on Saturday.
The Cadets finished second only to Middle Country of Section 11, who finished with a score of 6,053. Hilton finished with 5,967. The Cadets bowled a 3,214 in the last three-game series, which is a state record.
Hilton’s Anai Flanagan had the third-highest six-game series of the day with a 1,396 and tied for the second-highest game with a 277. She also received a sportsmanship award.
Teammate Steph Urbonas rolled a 1,236 series, Hannah Petroske rolled a 1,234, Beth Heberger rolled a 734 in four games, Nicole Simons rolled a 694 in four games, and Sarah Gerken rolled a 673 in four games.
The Greece Athena boys took home a fourth-place finish with a score of 6,282. South Colonie of Section 2 won the state title with 6,511.
Trojan Bryce Hook bowled the high game of the day with a 297 and received a sportsmanship award. Teammate Kyle Trick recorded the high series with a 1,442 and tied for the second-highest game with a 279.
Hook finished with a 1,363 series. Matt Richmond rolled a 1,223, Dennis Dautel rolled a 1,143, and Jordan Martorana rolled a 962 in five games.
The all-section composite teams compete on Sunday.
