Dansville EBH run and walk nets record numbers

Jim McMahon reported the 36th Annual Ellis B. Hyde Elementary School Cross Country Run and Walk was on Thursday. The initial prognostication was that there would be about 410 who would take part in the healthy heart event started by coach Fred Hoyt back in 1976. With pleasant fall weather for the event, participants came out of the woodwork and McMahon reported there were a record number of participants.

There were 487 youngsters who took part in the run, jog, or walk for a healthy heart making the event another huge success. By grades, here are some of the top finishers, boys and girls respectively, for the race:

Sixth grade
1st - Katelin Everman and Mark Lawrence.
2nd - Rachel Drake and Camden Malone.
3rd - Maddie Vegder and Camden Simpson.
4th - Breigh Graves and Tyler Baker.
5th - Leahana Gilbert and Derek Bell.

Fifth grade
1st - Grace Rittenhouse and Colyer Adams.
2nd - Emma Beardsley and Zach Foster.
Other top fifth grade finishers included Mackenzie Lawless, Cheyanne Gilmer, Maddie Wilcox, Max Connor, Bryce Quibell, Jake Avery, Mason Wolcott. Ben Caruso and Aidan Kreiley.

Fourth grade
1st - Heather Mann and Mike Suydam
2nd - Cami Caffarelli and Ryan Carnevale
3rd - Savannah Burley and Jace Cassata
4th - Tiana Rowley and Joe Sullivan
5th - Jadan LaFever and Caeleb Kendall

Third Grade
1st - Summer Foster and Jacob Smith
2nd - Maddy Failla and Martin McColligan
3rd - Morgan Avery and Nathan Simpson
4th - Evelyn Miller and Jacquan Price
5th - Nicole Teachout and Devon Douglas
