Fairport High School hosted the 2013 Ultimate Cheer and Dance Competition this past Saturday, where some of the top squads in Section 5 were on display. When it was all over, Penfield took home the title of Grand Champion at the varsity level.

The Patriots won first place in Varsity Division 4, holding of second-place Victor and third-place Spencerport. In Varsity Division 3, Brockport took the top spot and Churchville-Chili finished in second place. In Varsity Division 2, Midlakes held off East Rochester for first place, and Perry edged Waterloo for first place in Varsity Division 1.

Victor’s Rachel Wade won first place in the Senior Individuals competition. Coming in second in that competition was Kali Ryan from Perry, followed by Brockport’s Kaitlin Crandall in third and Lacey Lapresi of Midlakes in fourth.

In the junior varsity portion of the competition, the squad from Spencerport was named Grand Champion after taking first place n JV Division 2. The Rangers were followed by Perry and Brockport. Greece Arcadia won first place in JV Division 3, holding off in-town rival Greece Athena. Victor took third in that division. And in JV Division 1, Churchville-Chili earned first place ahead of East Rochester and Midlakes.

Churchville won the Freshmen Division, edging out Brockport. In the Modified Division, Spencerport was first place, followed by Midlakes, Victor and Canandaigua.
