Bloomfield’s Rayissa Amon led the Section 5 girls composite bowling team to a third-place finish at the state championships Sunday at AMF Strike-N-Spare in Syracuse.

Amon finished with the highest total of any Section 5 girls bowler over six games, amassing 1,318 pins. Her 268 in the fifth game was the fourth-highest for any female. Amon’s game scores were 194, 221, 206, 207, 268 and 222.

As a team, Section 5 finished with 6,252 pins, behind Section 6 (6,562) and Section 3 (6,508).

Victor’s Brianna Newton finished with the second-highest total on the Section 5 squad with 1,258 pins. Newton rolled game scores of 187, 181, 245, 234, 197, and 214.

Kara Mangiola (Greece Odyssey) rolled a 1,244 series, Emily Notebaert (Gates Chili) a 1,200, Emma Catone (Webster Thomas) had a 1,140, and Lindsey Foley (Gates Chili) had a 1,047.

Amon was also honored as a Sportsmanship Award winner from Section 5, along with Webster Thomas’ Matt Cleary.

The Section 5 boys team finished in eighth place with 5,920 pins.
