What’s all the cheering about? It’s none other than another first place finish, this time crowned with a grand championship as well.
The Dansville Mustang cheerleading team competed for the first time in the new year on Saturday and took home not only the first place trophy from the Avoca Tournament, but were also named grand champions for the day as well.
Dansville coaches Larry and Phyllis Greene were estatic over the girls’ performance.
“They were awesome out there today for their first competition,” the coaches said. “We obviously have some things to work on for the remainder of the season and sectionals, but this was a wonderful way to start.”
Dansville tied Perry for the highest score of the day. Dansville was one of 15 schools competing.
On an individual level, Kenedi Young was in the top four in the jump off while sophomore Deb Rivera captured first place in that competition.
