Fall youth soccer opens for FC Mustangs

The Dansville FC Mustangs program placed a number of teams in the Livonia Fall Youth Soccer League which opened last weekend.

In the third and fourth grade girls' division the Mustangs split a pair of games, winning 4-3 in the opener over Avon and then fell in the nightcap to Leroy. Notable performances were turned in by Sydney Stone and Rebecca Earner who each scored a goal and added an assist. Arayana Young and Maddie Faila each scored a goal. In net, a trio of keepers combined for 15 saves with Sydney Stone, Mikayla Abbey and Arayana Young each spending time between the posts.

The girls' fifth and sixth grade divsions saw Dansville enter a pair of teams in the competition, with which the red and black came home with a pair of victories starting with a 7-1 victory over Avon for the red team. Then the white followed suit as Dansville claimed a 4-1 triumph over Mt. Morris.

The Dansville clubs put together some well-balanced scoring on the offensive side, to go with a tough defense. On the scoring side, Maddie Vedger netted four goals and two assists. Rachel Drake and Jenna George each scored once with an assist. Mackenzie Lawless, Maddie Wilcox, Grace Rittenhouse and Ashley O'Dell each scored a goal as Lizzie Fox had a pair of assists. Emma Beardsley, Payton Powers and Hannah Belanger compbined to make 15 saves in goal. Defense was really the big key in holding off the opponents in both games.

Moving to the boys’ side of the coin, the third and fourth grade teams put forth their best effort and came up short in both games. A number of nice performances were turned in although this group is still in search of their first win. Offensively, Dansville pulled the trigger of 15 shots on the day. Dawson Wadsworth took a half-dozen of them while Jake Smith had four shots. Dan Richards took two as Nate Burley, Zach Kreiley and Caleb Kendall each added a shot. Nate Burley made 13 saves in net, as Dan Richardsade and Zach Kreiley made 6 saves.

Finally in the boys’ fifth and sixth grade division, the Mustangs earned a split in a pair of games. Mt. Morris took the first game by a final count of 5-3, before the red and black shut out Naples 4-0. Dansville played well, especially on offense. Coyler Adams led the charge by scoring five goals, Aidan Kreiley had a goal and an assist. Nick Camuto scored a goal, Jacob Cotton had four assists and Lowell Mensiger had an assist as well. Nick Camuto made 13 saves, Jacob Cotton added four and Colin Prack had three saves in support.
