Call it twice as nice in many regards for the Dansville and Wayland-Cohocton basketball teams. This Thursday and Friday, Jan. 26-27, will be big days for the area rivals who will battle it out for a pair of good causes. The slate for this week’s venue has been altered somewhat as all four games will be played in Dansville.

Admission to the games on both Thursday and Friday nights will benefit the local food pantry as fans will be asked to bring in non-perishable food items instead of the usual admission fee.

On Thursday, the Wayland-Cohocton and Dansville junior varsity teams take to the hardwood in hoop action with the girls game at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys.

On Friday night, the schedule will be similar with the girls’ varsity teams opening the venue at 6 p.m., followed by the boys’ varsity game. As an added treat, during halftime of the boys’ game, the annual Pink Paper Airplane Toss for Cancer will take place.

Paper planes will be sold for $1 each and then at halftime, fans will simultaneously launch their planes onto the gym floor which will contain multiple prizes to be given to the person whose plane comes closest. All the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
