BATH – The Bulldogs of Livonia were dominant in the water all season long. At Saturday’s LCAA league meet in Bath, they backed it up with a 568-point first place finish overall to win the LCAA championship ahead of Wellsville and Wayland-Cohocton in the top three.

The Lady Sea Lions collected an impressive second-place finish in the water behind three first-place finishes, two of them coming back to back from Lauren Staba and Emma Kinnicutt. Staba managed to record a first place time of 1:08.5 in the 100 backstroke, while Kinnicutt followed up with the top finish in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.7).

Both swam back-to-back legs in the team’s winning 200 medley relay team along with Taylor Hurd and Loralai Crawford for a time of 2:03.5. Staba also picked up a second place finish in the 200 freestyle, while Kinnicutt placed second in the 50 freestyle.

In the relay department, Wellsville also had teams place second and sixth in the 200 freestyle relay, and later a sixth place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.

“The team really stepped up today and had a great LCAA meet,” Wellsville coach Steve Hand said. “Second place is an awesome finish for how young of a team we are. I could list every girl on the team having a good meet. The first relay helped us set the tone for how we swam and we continued with several great finishes. I can’t wait to see how much lower we can get our times for Sectionals.”

Wayland-Cohocton placed third with a 302-point finish behind two first place victories from Evyn Meldrum, who medaled with times in the 50 freestyle (25.6) and later in the 500 freestyle (5:46.6).
