CAMPBELL-SAVONA - Campbell-Savona won its sixth consecutive Steuben County League Championship on Friday.

The Panthers finished with a team score of 434, followed by Addison with 328, Alfred-Almond with 218, Canisteo-Greenwood scored 188 and Genesee Valley/Cuba Rushford had 168.

For Campbell-Savona, the team of Derrick Goll, Caine Taft, Jacob Sullivan and Mark Eaton took first in the 200 yard medley relay in 1:46.05 and the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:34.70 and broke pool records in both events.

Taft also was a double individual winner in the 50 yard freestyle (23.18) and the 100 yard breaststroke (1:04.91) and Eaton touched first in the 100 yard freestyle (50.96). Goll broke the Panther team record in the 100 yard backstroke with his second place finish with a time of 59.14.

Taft was named male swimmer of the meet for Campbell-Savona and Katie Austin was named female swimmer of the meet.

“The kids swam great overall,” Campbell-Savona head coach Bob Loveless said. “The kids swim with added motivation as they do not want the streak of winning the league championship meet to end. They were driven with a purpose.”

The Panthers finish their season 9-0 in dual meets and 15-1 overall.

“The wins overall are a testament to their hard work throughout the season,” Loveless said.

Trent Makowiec won the diving portion of the meet with a State Qualifying score of 454.10 for the Knights and Zachary O’Neil took first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:44.29. The team of O’Neil, Dylan Drake, David Baker and Nathan Hough touched first in the 400 yard freestyle relay in 3:43.23.

Westin Perry was a double winner for Canisteo-Greenwood in the 200 yard freestyle (1:57.08) and the 100 yard backstroke (58.45). Aidan Steffey won the 100 yard butterfly for the Redskins in 1:01.23.

Ethan Watson placed first in the 200 yard individual medley in 2:19.25 for Genesee Valley.
