CORNING - The Indians got past the Hawks by a score of 82-76 on Wednesday in Corning.

The Hawks came out of the gates on fire, building up a 24-10 lead after the first quarter on the strength of eight points from Jason Rodriguez.

Corning kept pace in the next eight minutes and led Owego 42-28 at the half on 19 points from Rodriguez and 12 points from Bankston.

The Indians outscored the Hawks 25-16 in the third quarter to pull within 58-53.

Owego proceeded to outscore Corning 19-14 in the final frame including a layup from Kobe Bogart that tied the game with only eight seconds remaining in the contest.

"They just caught fire in the second half," Corning head coach John Fesetch said. "They had nine three-pointers. We just need to regroup on Friday in our next game."

Rodriguez netted the first bucket for the Hawks in the final frame, but Bogart netted seven of his 28 points in the extra period to put the game on ice.

"He's a competitive kid, he's a good player," said Fesetch. "That's Kobe, they needed some scoring and he provided it."

Will Donovan added 20 points and Christian Sage chipped in 21 points.

Rodriguez ended with 28 points for the Hawks and Bankston added 20 points.

Corning (5-5) will travel to Johnson City on Friday at 7:15 p.m. in its next game.
