There were many firsts to celebrate in Websters Crossing on Feb. 1, when Shanna Perkins Burley and her husband, Larry Burley, became parents. With the birth of their son, Trenton Charles Burley, Dansville Police Chief Charles Perkins and his wife became grandparents for the first time, Florence Perkins a great-grandmother for the first time, and our beloved June Perkins, one of our oldest seniors, a great-great-grandmother for the first time. Young Trenton weighed in at 8 pounds 10 ounces, and is now home with mom and dad in Dansville. Trenton made his entrance at Noyes Memorial Hospital.
The Valentine’s Prime Rib Dinner went on as scheduled despite the return of winter snow that blew in on Saturday. It was a successful fundraiser for the Springwater American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit and we thank the community who came out to support this endeavor. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the businesses and people who donated their services. You overwhelmed us with your generosity.
These dates need to be added to your calendars:

Stay warm this week and use caution on the roads as the pavement can be deceiving and very slippery.
Have a great week!

On Sunday, Feb. 12, the Springwater Parks and Trails Group hike was on the All Western Evergreen Nursery & Christmas Tree Farm on Liberty Pole Road. There were 14 hikers this week, six Flatlanders and eight Climbers. The most impressive part of the hike was emerging from the woods to the snowy frigid wind that reminded us of the real winters of the past. The next hike on Sunday, Feb. 19, will be the Mission Trail in Hemlock. Look for a description on the town calendar, on Friday or call Ellen Foltz 585-750-6288. New hikers are always welcome.
Stone Soup will be served at the Websters Crossing United Methodist Church on Ash at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, with the service at 7 p.m. If you would like to contribute something toward the soup, contact the Rev. Leonard Broseker at 585-260-4608 or Pat Martindale. The congregations and area people from Conesus, Springwater and Websters Crossing usually attend. Feel free to come.
The Spaghetti Supper and Music Jam by donation is at the Websters Crossing UMC the next day, Feb. 23, as usual, and everyone is invited. There is spaghetti, sauce, meatballs, tossed salad with assorted dressings, some homemade, Italian bread, garlic or plain butter, and an assortment of homemade desserts and the usual beverages. The food is served 4:30-7 p.m. and the music is being set up around 4 p.m. The musicians play right into the evening, as long as folks want to stay. People cannot believe that the dinner has been served regularly, the fourth Thursday of every month for the last seven years. We hope to see you there.
Please also put on your calendar the dish-to-pass dinner and brown bag auction at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 18. Auctions are fun and this one will be no exception.
Watch for the opportunity to join in with a group of people who want to track their weight, improve their diet and exercise regimens along with Leonard at the Websters Crossing Church, while at the same time supplying items to the food pantry. Pounds for Pantry may be a reality soon. Come join in the fun, help supply the pantry, and get healthier at the same time.
