O.K. Enough is enough! Now a sports commentator named Robert Lee has been taken off of the air by ESPN? I think the real problem today is an age old one. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Here’s a little history lesson. Robert E. Lee graduated top of his class from West Point. He served faithfully, the U.S. Army, most of his adult life. He distinguished himself during the Mexican-American War in the 1820s, where he reprimanded another West Point grad, U.S. Grant, for being sloppy in his appearance.

For such an able general, at Gettysburg, he failed miserably. Southerners blamed Longstreet and Pickett. Truth be told, Lee made amateurish mistakes and therefore lost Gettysburg. He later admitted this.

After the war, in the Episcopal church where he grew up, was baptized and confirmed, a newly freed slave decided to worship. This new freeman approached the altar to receive communion. All the white parishioners remained seated, save one gentleman, tall, grey-haired with a beard, knelt beside him. That man was Robert E. Lee. His message, a simple one. The war is over, times have changed, we must move on.

I realize that both KKK members, neo-Nazis as well as P.C. people don’t want to hear this; however, it happens to be fact.
