Charles Clifford DeLavergne was born January 26, 1936 to Charles Hart and Martha Berry DeLavergne in Hornell, NY, passed away August 10, 2018 in Spring, TX.
‘Bud-Del’ as he was known by his family and friends was a man “Full of Joy,” despite many tragedies in his life. A Korean War Veteran, Bud was a 1954 graduate of Alfred-Almond High School where he was distinguished with lettering in four sports, Baseball, Basketball, Soccer and Track. Bud was twice honored with inductions into the Alfred-Almond HS Athletics Hall of Fame for both Baseball and Basketball. He would often share with great humility of being one of four “Hall of Famers” to grow up on the same street in Almond, NY his hometown.
A resident of Dansville, NY for nearly 60 years, He became a talented agriculturalist on the Groveland Flats and played in the local baseball, basketball and golf leagues of the area. He was a member of several community organizations such as Lions Club, Volunteer Fire Departments and a good neighbor to all. Bud loved playing golf with his wife Martha, and hunting. Bud was most thankful to have a relationship with His Lord and Savior Jesus, and proud of his 3 children, Julia, Brad and Berry.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sue (Herman) Brown, and sons William Bradford and Berry Hart DeLavergne. He is survived by his loving wife Martha of 33 years, his daughter Julia Ann (Larry Schirm) OH, step-sons Mike (Janice) TX and Brett Beardsley (CA), along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A planned celebration service was held August 30th at the Champion Forest Baptist Church, Spring TX.
