DANSVILLE — Helen L. Cox, age 93, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was born on July 9, 1924 in Dansville NY, the daughter of the late Clarence & Winifred (Johnson) Applin Sr.
Helen retired in 2010 from Dansville Central School after 23 years of being a cafeteria monitor. Before retiring from school, Helen worked as a night shift supervisor at the Noyes Memorial Hospital. In her younger years, Helen was also a Cub Scout Den Mother, but most of all, she was a mother, and always a mom who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren along with her entire family.
Helen is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Richard L. Cox Sr. He predeceased her on November 12, 2001. She is also predeceased by her son Richard L. Cox Jr. on June 2, 1992, a sister, Thelma Bovee, a brother, Clarence Applin Jr., a grandson, Jason Fronk and a great grandson, Trent Peaty.
Helen is survived by her children, Dennis C. Cox Sr. of Dansville, Jackie (Dick) Fronk of Dansville, William (Lisa) Cox of Geneseo, her brother, Theodore Applin of Wayland, her sisters, Muriel Mitchell of Dansville and Carolyn (John) Congdon of Randolph, nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, and special friend, Chris Briggs.
Friends may call on Thursday, September 14 from 5-8pm at the Chamberlin-Baird Funeral Home, 73 Main St., Dansville NY 14437. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 15 at 11am at the Free Methodist Church, 25 Franklin Street, Dansville. A private interment will be held at the conclusion of the service for the family at Greenmount Cemetery.
