 1 Halloween is coming up on Wednesday. Trick or Treating times for the villages of Dansville, Wayland, Cohocton and Nunda is from 6 to 8 p.m. Before the young and young at heart go door to door with trick or treating, Dansville will have its annual Halloween Parade starting at the Town Hall at 6 p.m. and crowning of its King and Queen Poag in front of Star Theatre. Kids can also take advantage of Dansville Free Methodist Church’s Trunk N’ Treat in the church's parking lot during trick or treating hours, plus games, move and campfire refreshments.

2 Aside from Halloween evening, there will be a Halloween parade at 1 p.m. Sat, Oct. 27 for Wayland-Cohocton students up to age 12. Parade starts at the parking lot across from St. Joseph's Church to Five Star Bank parking lot. Prizes awarded, plus cider and donuts. Later that day is the West Sparta Youth Halloween Party, starting at 6 p.m. in the fire department. Costume judging, fire prevention and games.

3 On Oct. 28, there will be Pumpkin Contest and Halloween Fun at Growing Places, 14 Battle St. in Dansville. Register pumpkins from 1 to 3 p.m., kiddie costume parade starts at 6 p.m., stories by Cris Riedel at 6:30, community judging and Pumpkin Glow from 7-8:30 p.m.

4 Need something scarier? A "Haunted house" will commence Oct. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ossian Community Center, sponsored by Ossian Historical Society. $3 cover charge will include a hay ride and treats. The "Twisted Minds" are coming back with a bigger kick than last year and a bit scarier but a lot more fun.

5 Local American Legions are getting involved too. Wayland American Legion will be hosting a Halloween party Oct. 27 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $5 at the door, come dressed in costume. Springwater will have a "haunted school house" at its American Legion Oct. 28. There is a $4 cover charge, adult supervision is required.
