Genesee Media Corp. has agreed to acquire WASB and WRSB radio from Marilyn Wolfe.

WRSB 1310 AM, based in Canandaigua, provides primary signal coverage to some of New York State’s fastest growing and most affluent zip codes. WASB 1590 AM complements WRSB’s coverage to points west of Rochester.

“The addition of these two signals will allow Genesee Media Corp. to further develop parts of the Rochester, N.Y., market,” Genesee Media Corp. President Brian McGlynn said.

When asked about investment in AM radio, McGlynn explained, “AM radio, coupled with digital, is still very much a viable medium. Many of the highest billing radio stations in markets across North America are on AM.”

McGlynn is a veteran broadcaster and technology business leader. McGlynn’s ties to the Rochester area go back to his graduation from RIT’s Telecommunications Engineering Technology Program and Internet Radio ventures.

Dansville-based Genesee Media Corp. operates WDNY AM 1400 and My 93.9 FM serving the Genesee Valley, western Finger Lakes, and Southern Tier from Dansville. Genesee Media Corp. also provides digital coverage through GeneseeNow.com.

Kozacko Media Services is handling the sale.
