Margery Maichle Sauerbier, 89, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 31, 2012, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville after an extended illness.

She was born in Cohocton on Feb. 27, 1923, a daughter of the late Dr. Robert J. and Martha (Christian) Maichle. On Sept. 2, 1950, at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville she was married to Paul G. Sauerbier who predeceased her on Nov. 8, 1994. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Charles Maichle, M. Sybil Maichle, John Maichle, Jean Maichle Bacon, James Maichle; and a son-in-law, Ralph E. Parker.

Marge was a communicant of the Holy Family Catholic Community at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville, where she was sacristan, lector, and a member of the Rosary Society. She was also an active member and publicity chairperson of the Livingston County Children’s Protective Association for many years. Marge enjoyed listening to music, reading, and traveling throughout Europe and Canada.

Margery received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from D’Youville College in Buffalo. She then became a clinical instructor of Pediatric Nursing at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan at Detroit. Marge later received her School Nurse Teaching Certification from SUNY Geneseo, and was the Nurse Aide Instructor at the Charles G. May Occupational Center in Mt. Morris for over 20 years, retiring in 1989.

She is survived by four daughters, Christian (Bud) Gee of Dansville, Gretchen S. Welge (Milton Reisser)of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Martha Parker of Rochester, Mary Elizabeth Pellerin of Ballston Lake; a son, Maichle (Erika Gabriel) Sauerbier of Elmsford; a brother, F. Richard Maichle of Dansville; sisters-in-law Betty Maichle of Dansville and Dianne Maichle of Rochester; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends called Friday at the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church in Dansville on Saturday. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville. Online remembrances may be left at hindlefuneralhome.com
