News to know

The Colorado state prison systems chief was shot and killed yesterday night, and police are looking for a car that may be connected to the case. A neighbor saw a late-1990s boxy model car about 200 yards from the home of the victim, Tom Clements, CNN reports. The car was running but empty, and was later seen driving toward the highway. A 911 call was made by a member of Clements' family around the same time, saying that Clements had been shot after answering the front door. Before being appointed state prison chief, Clements had worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections for 31 years.

Quote of note

"So as I begin this visit, let me say as clearly as I can -- the United States of America stands with the State of Israel because it is in our fundamental national security interest to stand with Israel. It makes us both stronger. It makes us both more prosperous. And it makes the world a better place." - President Barack Obama, at his arrival ceremony in Israel.
