Steuben County Sheriff Joel Ordway announced this morning he will not seek another term in office.
The Canisteo native won a bruising battle for the post three years ago, and is declining to run for a second term.
“I’ve been a public servant for 32 years and the most tenured member of the Sheriff’s Office with over 28 years of service at the end of my term,” said Ordway.
“I’ll be 50 at the end of my term and young enough to start another career and better provide for my family,” Ordway said. “It’s been a pleasure serving the county for all these years and a pleasure serving the residents as their sheriff.”
