The hamlet of Woodsville now has fire protection with help from United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development grant.

The money from the $750,000 grant went toward connecting the West Sparta hamlet to the village of Dansville's water system, and the new water lines will benefit 33 households in Woodsville, according to West Sparta Town Supervisor Dominic Cosimano. Seven new, yellow fire hydrants now line Woodsville Road, providing safety for an area previously devoid of on-site fire protection.

Leftover money is now being used to renovate existing water lines in Cummingsville between Foster Wheeler and the Kwik Fill gas station on State Route 36.
