Event organizers for the Day of Caring and Charing at Wayland’s American Legion Hall reported a successful turnout of about 170 guests.

“It was a good showing,” Kevin Mark said, expressing his appreciation for everyone who helped at the event. “I’m really happy with how it turned out.”

Rochelle Sulli explained that the event raised funds for the animal shelter in Wayland which will help with a renovation and efforts with other agencies. Funds from the event will also be contributed to the Wounded Warrior Project, to send care packages to military personnel overseas and to honor graduating seniors who are entering the military.

Sulli said the event raised in excess of $2,000. Participating in the fashion show were 17 cheerleaders and 11 boys’ basketball players. Nine juniors from Wayland-Cohocton Central School also volunteered at the event.
