Wayland Town Justice Kerry Pebbles approved an agreement between the plaintiff and defendants in a case involving the Town of Wayland, two local families and an Amish man last Thursday.
Both sides settled the matter out of court.
Charges against Enos Mast, an Amish man who lives near Cooperstown, and Wayland couple Martin and Carol Kimmel were dropped by the Town of Wayland. All but one charge on Martin “Chip” Kimmel V was dropped.
Charges stem from a July incident after Chip Kimmel hired Mast, then from the Town of Jasper, to work on his barn roof.
All three parties were charged with failing to obtain a building permit, failing to obtain worker’s compensation or liability insurance required for a building permit, and ignoring a stop work order.
All pled not guilty, except Chip who pled guilty to not obtaining a building permit, and will have to pay a $50 fine.
