Madaline D. Rounsville, 77, of Christian Road in Ossian died Saturday morning Sept. 3, 2011, at Highland Hospital in Rochester after battling cancer.
Madaline was born July 31, 1934, in Hornell, the daughter of the late Gerald A and Margaret M. (Longo) Crossett. She was a 1951 graduate of Hornell High School. Madeline was married on June 5, 1954 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hornell to Donald F. Rounsville who died June 29, 2008, whom she had been married to for 54 years. Madaline had been employed at Noyes Memorial Hospital as an accounts payable clerk, retiring in 1996 after 25 years of service. She coached Saturday Morning Junior Bowling for many years, retiring in 1976. In her earlier years she enjoyed skeet shooting and snowmobiling. She was an avid bowler and especially enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and making trips to the casinos with her husband Don prior to his passing.
Besides her parents and her husband, Donald, she was also predeceased by a son, Kevin Gerald Rounsville in 2009. She is survived by her children, Karen (John) Everett of Lebanon, Tenn., Kent (Alise) Rounsville and Kelly (Laurie) Rounsville, both of Dansville; 10 grandchildren JoAnne and Danielle Rounsville both of New Jersey, Sierra Rounsville and Shane Rounsville, both of Dansville, and Shane’s fiancée Kristin Campbell of Hornell, Kevin Donald Rounsville, Trevor Rounsville, Gianna Strampello all of Philadelphia, Pa., Cody, Casey, and Courtney Rounsville of Dansville; one daughter-in-law Gina Rounsville of Philadelphia, Pa., one sister-in-law Martha (Bud) DeLavergne of Dansville; one brother-in-law Dennis (Gail) Rounsville of Dansville.
Friends may call 4–8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday at the St. George–Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Hotchkiss officiating. Friday, at the conclusion of calling hours. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Dansville. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to a charity of one’s own choice in memory of Madaline D. Rounsville.
