William “Bill” Arnold Crandall, 72, originally from Norwich, passed away on Jan. 21, 2012. in Louisville, Ky.

Bill was born in Norwich on Dec. 5, 1939. He is the son of the late James Arnold and Katherine Welch Crandall. Bill enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1958 and proudly served 10 years. After being honorably discharged, he attended Albany Medical Center School of Nursing. He went on to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist. He practiced anesthesia all across the country with the majority of his career in New York, Georgia, South Carolina and Texas. He retired after practicing for 40 years. When he wasn’t working, he loved spending time outdoors, playing golf, boating and riding horses. He also raised and showed prized horses as well as show dogs for Kabina Kennels.

Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy Crandall; son, Brandon Crandall and his wife Erin; daughter, Rebecca Crandall; sister, Margaret (Peggy) Hilgert and her husband Peter; and nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends.

There will be a Mass celebrated in Bill’s memory at Guardian Angel’s Catholic Church in Louisville, Ky., on Feb. 12. The family requests donations to be made to the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research at faer.org or to the American Heart Association at heart.org.
